Good boundaries and goodbyes

Author: lysa terkeurst

OVERVIEW: another masterpiece by lysa! This book is pure gold. Lysa explains not only why boundaries are necessary, but also how to set healthy boundaries to protect yourself, as well as your important relationships. setting boundaries is not mean or unchristian. in fact, Lysa points us back to scripture on numerous occasions. She provides multiple examples of boundaries set by god himself. She also teaches on the difference between a difficult relationship and a destructive one. There are so many useful and applicable tools in this book!

My thoughts: Like all of Lysa’s books that I have read, this book is so validating. the idea of boundary setting can be intimidating, to say the least. So, I want to share my biggest take away from this book - something that makes creating and maintaining boundaries feel much more manageable. Lysa explains that we do not set boundaries in order to change another person’s behaviors or actions. Instead, we set boundaries to manage our reactions and responses. We can’t control anther person, but we can control how they affect us and how much access they have to our lives. This concept takes a lot of the pressure off.
